Piercing Tips & FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions | Nemearis Kraków
How to prepare for a piercing procedure?
On the day of your procedure, it's best to be well-rested, well-fed, and hydrated. Avoid alcohol, blood-thinning medications, and strenuous exercise. Keep the pierced area clean by avoiding the use of creams, oils, or cosmetics.
From what age do you do piercings?
Most piercings are performed for individuals aged 16 and over, with parental or legal guardian consent required (presence required). Selected procedures, such as tongue piercings, nipple piercings, implant piercings, and intimate piercings, are available only to individuals aged 18+.
Is the procedure painful?
This is an individual matter – everyone experiences pain differently. However, we use only sterile, sharp needles and work quickly and precisely, minimizing discomfort.
Can I come for a treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not perform piercings on pregnant or breastfeeding individuals. This is a contraindication for safety reasons – both for the body and for wound healing.
How to care for your piercing after the procedure?
After the procedure, you will receive detailed care instructions. The piercing site should be cleaned 1-2 times daily with saline. Avoid touching the piercing with dirty hands, do not rotate the piercing, and do not use alcohol, spirits, or cosmetics.
How long does it take for a piercing to heal?
Healing time depends on the location of the piercing:
– Earlobe: approx. 3–6 months
– Cartilage: 6–12 months
– Language: 4–6 weeks
– Navel: 6–12 months
Full healing is an individual matter and may take longer.
When can I replace my earring?
Replacing the piercing is only possible after partial or full healing, depending on the piercing location. Most often:
– Lobe: min. 6–8 weeks
– Cartilage: min. 3–6 months
Replacement should be performed by a professional.
What should I do if I notice something disturbing?
If you experience severe swelling, pain, purulent discharge, or other concerning symptoms, contact us as soon as possible. We will provide support and help you assess the situation.
Can I bathe after the treatment?
Yes, but avoid swimming in pools, lakes, hot tubs, or bathtubs for at least 3–4 weeks. Showering is fine, but the piercing site should not be rubbed or exposed to strong detergents.
Can a piercing fail?
In rare cases, the body may reject a piercing—this applies primarily to superficial piercings and microdermal piercings. This risk can be minimized with proper jewelry selection and care.
Can I exercise after the procedure?
We recommend avoiding intense exercise for 48 hours. For piercings that are prone to pressure (e.g., navel, nipples, ear), it's worth limiting your workouts or choosing looser clothing and mindful movements.
What are the contraindications to piercing?
Contraindications include active infections, pregnancy, breastfeeding, uncontrolled diabetes, blood clotting problems, skin conditions at the piercing site, or immune disorders. If in doubt, contact us before your appointment.
Is jewelry included in the price?
Yes – a basic piercing is included in every piercing service. Decorative jewelry is also available for purchase, including earrings with natural stones and 14k gold.
Can I come with a companion?
Of course – we only ask that a maximum of one person accompany you, especially during peak hours. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Are piercings safe?
Yes, if performed by a professional under sterile conditions. At Nemearis, we use only disposable instruments and adhere to rigorous hygiene procedures.
